2020 Varsity Head Coach Announcement

Lakeville South High School is excited to formally announce Ben Burk as our next Head Football Coach.

Coach Burk has been a teacher in the Communications department and a coach at Lakeville South for the past five years. He most recently served as the interim head coach, guiding the Cougars to the AAAAAA State Semifinals before losing to eventual State Champion, Wayzata. He has served as the Offensive Coordinator for the Cougars since 2017, and led an offensive attack that set school records for rushing yards in each of his two full seasons as a coordinator. Prior to serving as a coordinator, Coach Burk coached the quarterbacks in 2015 & 2016. During the 2014 season, Coach Burk coordinated the passing game and special teams for Burnsville High School. In 2012 and 2013, Ben worked under Larry Thompson coaching quarterbacks for Lakeville South.

Coach Burk began his coaching career at the University of Saint Thomas in 2011 where he was a student assistant on a coaching staff that led the Tommies to a perfect regular-season record and a national semi-final appearance.
As a player, Coach Burk was a quarterback at Saint Cloud State University during the 2005 and 2006 seasons. He is a graduate of Chino Valley High School in Arizona. Coach Burk lives in Lakeville with his wife Anna, and his two children Lola and Luke.
Coach Burk's purpose as a coach is to "inspire young people to value integrity, service to others, and the pursuit of excellence on the field and in life."

Go Cougars!
