Mike Remington

Freshmen Head Coach

Coach Remington is the head coach for the freshmen team. He also has coached both baseball and basketball at Lakeville South at a variety of levels ranging from 9th grade to varsity assistant.  He is an English/Language Arts teacher at LSHS.
 
Prior to teaching Coach Remington grew up in Eden Prairie, MN.  He attended Carleton College where he played basketball and baseball.
 
Coach Remington lives in Lakeville with his wife Jaime and children Carson, Emma, Reese, and Cooper. 

Jon Gilmer

9th Grade Linebackers

Coach Gilmer is a 1979 graduate of Lakeville High school.  While in high school he participated in football, basketball and track; being captain and all conference in football and track.  He earned his teaching degree from the University of Minnesota, Morris and participated in football (free safety) and track (high hurdles) while attending.

Coach Gilmer started teaching and coaching in 1984 at Lakeville Senior High in the science department teaching Biology.  His coaching career has involved 5 years as a girls basketball coach, Head coach of the Boys Track and Field team since 1984, and coaching football at all levels.  He took some time off to watch and support his own children but now is back coaching football at LSHS.

Coach Gilmer lives in Bloomington with his wife Diane and they have three sons: Chad, Ryan and Trevor.

Paul Schmidtke

Freshmen Offensive Coordinator

Coach Schmidtke grew up in St. James, MN and had 9 siblings.  He played football at St. Cloud State University.  Coach Schmidtke has spent the last several years coaching & teaching in Lakeville and he is currently the 9th Grade Offensive Coordinator.

Coach Schmidtke is married to his wife Angila who teaches in Owatonna.  They have 5 children:  Bailee, Mac, Blake, Evelyn and Audrey.

Matthew Torgerson

9th Grade Defensive Backs Coach

Coach Torgerson grew up in East Grand Forks, MN, and graduated from the University of North Dakota in 2015.  He started coaching football in 2014 for Red River High School as a Freshman Wide Receiver,  Defensive Backs, and Special Teams coach through 2018.  After moving to the Twin Cities, he began coaching football and baseball for Hopkins Middle School and Hopkins High School as well. He was an assistant coach for the 8th-grade team for football and a Freshman coach for baseball.

Coach Torgerson is going on his 5th year coaching at Lakeville South as a Defensive Back Coach for the Freshman level. He also coaches baseball at Lakeville South in the spring for the Freshman.

Coach Torgerson is currently a Special Education ParaProfessional at Kenwood Trail Middle School in Lakeville. He and his wife Emily live in Farmington with their daughter Evelyn.

Doug Boelter

9th Grade Running Backs Coach

Coaching - Freshman/Sophomore Running backs/Special Teams LSHS (2014-Present)

Other Sports - Freshman/Sophomore Assistant baseball coach LSHS (2010-Present)  

High School - Sioux Falls O'Gorman. Played football and wrestled. State champs in football. Team is in O'Gorman Hall of Fame.

College  - South Dakota State University - Degree in Mathematics 

Profession - Write software for large state entity.

Family 

Wife - Rocky

Children - Eric, Eddie, Bailey

Connor Wears

9th Grade O Line

2023 will be Connor Wears’ first season as the 9th grade offensive line coach. Previously, he played college football at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where he had All-WIAC honors as a special teams player during his last season. After finishing, he wanted to take the next step in jumping to the coaching side, where he can help student-athletes succeed as football players and teammates.

Connor grew up in Amery, Wisconsin where he played football, basketball, and baseball throughout high school. Recently, he became a Lakeville resident with his fiancé Megan, who works as a dietitian for the U of M Children’s Hospital. In addition to coaching football, he’s a co-owner of Lakeside Chiropractic in Prior Lake, MN, where he focuses on sports rehab and therapy to help patients get back to their respective sports and activities.

Ryan Lantz

9th Grade D Line

Coach Lantz is the defensive line coach for the freshman team. Growing up in Aurora, Illinois, coach Lantz fostered a passion for football watching Bears legends like Brian Urlacher and Charles "Peanut" Tillman. He coached freshman football for 4 seasons at Bloomington Jefferson prior to joining Lakeville South football, and has never been part of a losing team.

 

Coach Lantz is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, earning both his Bachelor's in Psychology (2018) and his Master's in Educational Psychology (2020). He currently serves as an IT Technician for the Prior Lake-Savage Area School District, where his LSHS Football-clad office can be found.

Living in Lakeville, Coach Lantz can often be found studying game film at Lifetime Fitness or Dairy Delite.
