The Vikings added a fifth quarterback to the roster in ex-Gopher Mitch Leidner

The Vikings added a fifth quarterback to the roster in ex-Gopher Mitch Leidner on Sunday.

Leidner joins less than two weeks before all NFL rosters must be cut from 90 to 53 players. Quarterbacks Sam Bradford, Case Keenum and Taylor Heinicke played without apparent injury against the Seahawks on Friday night. Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is currently on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

The Vikings have two more preseason games against the 49ers on Aug. 27 and Dolphins on Aug. 31.

Leidner (6-4, 230) joins the Vikings after going undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft. The Lakeville South product attended the Baltimore Ravens rookie minicamp but did not sign with the club. Leidner completed his career at Minnesota ranked 2nd in passing attempts (1,029) and completions (580), ranked 3rd in passing yards (7,287) and 5th in passing TDs (36). He joins fellow Golden Gophers Isaac Fruechte and Marcus Sherels on the roster.
